Flooring in two stages for Brittedal, Hästveda

The contact with Bergvik has been excellent and they were very accommodating from the initial contact until everything was finalised. The project has been a complex puzzle involving many parties, but Bergvik has adhered to the schedule and promised deliveries very well and entirely according to plan.

Bergvik delivers and installs flooring in two stages for Brittedal

After the electricity network company Brittedal in Hästveda took over an old station in poor condition, Bergvik Sweden AB was given the opportunity to supply new flooring for the project.

Brittedal is starting by refurbishing the old building and has decided to build a new switchgear in the old building. The old switchgear in the building was constructed with a rail bridge between two switchgear sides. This made it possible, after an operational interruption, to move the load to one side and open the rail bridge to de-energise and demolish one side. When the new installation floor is to be installed, it must be done in two stages.

Stage one

Bergvik Sweden is supplying and installing flooring for Brittedal in two stages, with the first stage involving the construction of half the surface area so that a new 10 kV switchgear can be built and the cables installed. Once the substation was complete, operations were transferred to the new facility and the remaining half of the old substation could be demolished.

Stage two

In stage two, a new 24 kV switchgear was built to replace the old one, which was located outdoors. The second stage was a little more complicated due to the size of the switchgear and the doorways in the old building. Once the switchgear was in place, Bergvik Sweden had to return a third time to install the frame and railings

Project facts

At the turn of 2018/2019, Brittedal took over a station from E.ON that was in very poor condition. There were two options: either demolish it or build a new one. The building was made of brick and in a condition that could be refurbished, so this option was chosen over demolition and rebuilding. The building was refurbished both inside and out, and a new substation was built in the old building.

Since 2006, Bergvik Sweden has been our go-to supplier for raised access flooring in our data centres. They deliver very high quality in terms of both materials and service, and I am convinced that their Iso Floor construction will become standard in all data centres, just as it already is in electrical rooms.
